December Traffic Tips - Put Your Phone Down!

Transportation Committee Posted on December 05, 2025

Paul Miller’s Law - or the Distracted Driver Law, went into effect in June of 2025. Paul Miller was a 21-year-old who sadly lost his life in a distracted driver incident in Monroe County. Paul wanted to become a Police Officer.

This means drivers cannot use their devices while driving, even when temporarily stopped in traffic or at a red light. This includes talking, texting, emailing, browsing the internet, taking photos, or interacting with their phone.

According to PennDOT data, in 2024 there were 9,950 crashes involving a distracted driver, resulting in more than 6,000 injuries and 49 fatalities. Distracted driving crash data is believed to be underreported due to many drivers’ reluctance to admit to being distracted at the time of a crash.

Only you, our licensed drivers, can prevent incidents like this in Media. Please keep our Borough safe.... focus on the road and keep the phone off and away while driving!
