[ARCHIVED] Important Message from the Media Borough Police Department

Media Borough POLICE alert

On May 3rd , at 03:53 hrs., Media Borough Police were dispatched to the Unit block of E. 5 th  St for a report of an armed robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived within a minute of dispatch and learned three males had robbed a pedestrian at gun point.  One of them displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to her car.

The victim refused and fled back into the residence.  While doing so she dropped her wallet which was taken by the actors.  The actors did not take anything else and fled the area.  Later investigation revealed they may have been using a white Honda CR-V.  The vehicle was last seen turning onto Baltimore Ave from Providence Rd (Rte. 252) toward I-476/Springfield Twp minutes after the robbery.

On May 3rd , at 08:56 hrs., the Media Police took a report of a theft of a white 2018 Honda CR-V that occurred earlier the same night as the armed robbery.  The vehicle was unlocked with the fob and house keys inside.  The vehicle has various decals on the corners of the tailgate window. It was seen returning to town just prior to the armed robbery.  The Media Police as well as neighboring police departments took additional reports on Saturday of theft from motor vehicles in adjacent municipalities.

On May 4th , at 00:22 hrs., the Media Police observed the white Honda CR-V (same tag displayed) traveling eastbound on Baltimore Ave.  A traffic stop was attempted resulting in a vehicle pursuit which was terminated on I-95 North in Philadelphia.  Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of the Girard Ave exit.  Investigation revealed the Honda CR-V may have been connected to another theft of a vehicle in Middletown Township. Both stolen vehicles are seen traveling east on Baltimore Ave (into Media Borough) minutes apart from each other just before MPD engages in the pursuit of the Honda.

This is an ongoing investigation, the actors involved should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Media Police Detectives Jonathan Joseph, #51 or Jenna Scott, #52 at (610) 565-6656.
