[ARCHIVED] Holiday Safety Tips from Chief Egan

Holiday Scams

The Holidays are quickly approaching, and I wanted to remind all the residents and guests of Media that along with the increase in the Holiday spirit comes an increase in crimes. Please keep alert to your surroundings and contact the police if something seems out of the ordinary. Scammers use this time of year to take advantage of resident’s kindness during the holiday season.  If anyone receives a call from anyone requesting or demanding money and want to be paid by gift cards or bit coin, please call the Media Police before purchasing anything.

No utility (PECO, Aqua, etc.) or government agency (police, courts, etc.) will require immediate payment without prior notice. The officers of the Media Police will be happy to verify the legitimacy of anyone requesting money.
