[ARCHIVED] Thank You, Chief Egan

Cheif Egan

Media Borough Council honored Chief Matt Egan on his retirement last week.

Chief Egan began his full-time tenure with the Media Police Department in August 1990. He was promoted to Sergeant in December of 2000, spending over 20 years as street supervisor until he was promoted to the Lieutenant’s position in 2021. He took over as Chief of Police in August of 2022.

Chief Egan has made a noticeable positive impact on the department. During his time on patrol, he showed a particular emphasis on curbing drunk driving, receiving accommodations and recognition from Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his work in that area.

Chief Egan was an early champion of the change over to the 12-hour shift, which significantly benefitted the officers’ quality of life. In addition, he was a founding member of the department’s bike patrol unit and a FOP representative.

Notably, Chief Egan was the driving force behind the department receiving accreditation status from the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission in August of 2023, a status which all who are a part of this Borough can take pride in.

Thank you, Chief Egan. We wish you all the best in your retirement!
