Work commences the week of July 17 on the replacement of Media Borough’s “cobrahead” streetlight fixtures with energy-saving LED fixtures. The new LED lamps will save the borough more than $300,000 in energy and maintenance costs over the next 10 years.
The Borough was able to purchase the LED lamps at low cost through its participation in the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s Regional Streetlight Procurement Program (RSLPP). The program brought together a consortium of 35 municipalities in the region to competitively bid out the engineering for the project as a whole and to purchase equipment in bulk. The project engineer is Johnson Controls, partnering with Aelux, LLC.
The installation of the new LEDs will continue over several months in all parts of the borough.
