Media Borough welcomes Jenn Metzger as the newest Recreation Coordinator. In her new role, Jenn will be providing administrative and event support for the Media Recreation Board, host community events like the Fourth of July parade, Halloween parade, outdoor movie nights, holiday decorating contest, Winter Wonderland, and many others. She will also be responsible for coordinating the Borough’s offering of recreational and exercise classes, networking with community groups for a community calendar, and managing facility and park rentals. Regarding a role she feels most enthusiastic about, Jenn said, “I’ll make sure the Tot Lot and Community Playroom are in good order for our smallest residents!”

Prior to her new position as Media’s Recreation Coordinator, Jenn was Vice-President of Media Softball and coached in the league for 14 years. She has also had roles in the RTMDS parent groups, Media Food Bank and GriefShare.

Jenn is a licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor via The National Council of Behavioral Health and has a Certificate of Non-Profit Management from LaSalle University and The Foundation for Delaware County. In 2017, she became certified to teach Mental Health First Aid and taught community classes at Riddle Hospital, Villanova University, Chester City Hall, and various other local centers. During the pandemic, MHFA classes moved online leading Jenn to consider an opportunity off screen.

Jenn and her husband Joe have lived in Media Borough for 27 years. In 1999, they started Safer Babies (www.saferbabies.com). Recently, Jenn and Joe have won Philadelphia Family, Main Line Parent and Bucks County Parent LOVE Awards.

What Jenn loves most about Everybody’s Hometown: “The people! Whether it is neighbors, the people I have volunteered and coached with, the families I know from the school district, the business owners and bartenders, or fellow dog owners out strolling … it really does feel like a hometown. My hope is to help others make connections and feel that way too” she said.

In her new role, Jenn is most looking forward to taking on “all of it!” She is excited to “build opportunities and events for people to connect and enjoy Media.” She encourages new people to join the Recreation Board so that “we can notch up our events and provide additional opportunities. Anyone who is interested please email or call me!”

In her free time Jenn loves breaking and building with glass! One of her mosaics is currently (until June 9th) in the juried art exhibit at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford. She also loves spending time with her young adult kids and Zoe, her (almost) 15-year-old dog.

Jenn is eager to hear from you and can be reached at the Media Borough Recreation Department at 610-566-5210 or via email at jmetzger@mediaborough.com.
