Trash Collection

Schedule

Trash is collected twice weekly.

  • East of Jackson Street is collected on Monday and Thursday.
  • West of Jackson Street (including both sides of Jackson Street) - Tuesday and Friday.

Each residence is permitted 3 - 32 gallon containers per pickup.

Please - do not place electronics in the trash. The State of PA no longer allows desktop or laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals or TVs to be disposed of in landfills and incinerators.

If your scheduled trash collection day falls on a holiday your trash will not be collected that day. It will be collected on the next regularly scheduled trash collection day, not the next day!

Place trash curbside after 6 pm the night before collection; bring containers in by 9 pm collection day.

Trash Collection Reminder - DO NOT OVERLOAD LARGE BINS

Please remember that borough workers will ONLY collect THREE 32 gallon containers per household per pickup. If you do use a larger trash container (35 gallons or higher), please refrain from adding heavy items to the container. The Media Borough Public Works Department will continue to collect waste from larger cans but cannot completely empty them if the weight of the receptacle is too heavy for our crew members.

Bulk Trash Pickup

Media collects bulk items on the last Wednesday of the month. Each residential unit shall be entitled to one free heavy trash pickup per calendar year. Additional heavy trash pickups are subject to a fee of $30 per pickup. Each pickup is limited to five items, with no more than two large appliances. Additional large appliances will be subject to an additional fee of $15 per large appliance. Any appliance containing freon shall be subject to an additional fee of $15 per appliance. The Borough must be called 48 hours prior to pickup to be added to the pickup schedule. All requests must be made prior to Noon on Monday. Requests after Noon on Monday will be picked up the following month.
