Hoopnotica Workshop

The Media Recreation board is offering a Hoopnotica workshop on Friday, Aug 24th from 6-8pm in the Community Center. The cost is $10. Hoop dance offers participants an outlet for creative expression as well as a great workout. Waist hooping alone uses approximately 30 muscles in and around one’s core. Additionally, hoop dance can burn between 400 and 600 calories an hour. Students will experience increased endurance, core strength, and stability. Hooping also improves posture and offers an opportunity to practice timing, rhythm, and hand-eye coordination. Students will learn to hoop on their waist, hips, legs, shoulders, chest, and arms. Eventually, each individual movement or “trick” can be combined into a sequence of motions known as “hoop dance”. Hoop dance is not only fun, but also calms the mind while releasing energy. With practice, students can create and choreograph their own moves and routines in a joyous form of self-expression. Hoop dance is great for anyone age 12 and up! No hoops or experience necessary! If interested in registering please call the Recreation Office at 610-566-5210 x255.
