Walk of Fame for 2012

The Walk of Fame is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.   The ceremony will take place at the flag pole located at the Media Municipal Building at Fourth and Jackson Streets.  This year Dr. Walter E. Wentz, Jr., Elizabeth Macky Wentz and William "Bill" Brady will be honored.

 

Dr. Walter E. Wentz, Jr. was a physician in Media Borough for 54 years.  He was a charter member and President of the Media Rotary Club and 32nd Degree Mason.  Dr. Wentz served as Deacon, Trustee and Elder in Media Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for 59 years.  He founded the Parents Committee to support Women's Athletics at Media High School in 1950.

 

Elizabeth Macky Wentz was born and raised in Media Borough.  She was a member of the Media Presbyterian Church for 83 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.  Mrs. Wentz was a founding member of The Women's Association and was recognized by them as Woman of the Year.  Mrs. Wentz served on the Media Library Board and was founder and co-leader of the first Girl Scout Troop of mixed cultural origin in Media.

 

William "Bill" Brady was a lifelong resident of Media and served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.  Mr. Brady founded the directed the Media Fawns All Girl Drum and Bugle Corps.  Mr. Brady was employed as a bartender at many restaurants in Media, including the Towne House.  Mr. Brady became active in veterans affairs and was past commander of Media Post 3460 Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He was a member of the honor guard that participated in the burial of the Unknown Solider in Washington, D.C.
