ICC & Life Safety Appeals Board (members: 5 & 1 alternate/ term: 5 years)

Appeals of a decision of the Media Borough Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector pertaining to the BOCA & Life Safety Codes may be made to the Media Borough BOCA & Life Safety Appeals Board by any aggrieved person, firm, or corporation. The appeal must be based upon the following reasons: a) the true intent of the Code or the rules legally adopted thereunder have been incorrectly interpreted, b) the provisions of the Code do not fully apply, or c) the requirements of the Code are satisfied by other means.

Meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. (bi-monthly)

Board of Health (members: 5 / term: 5 years)

The Board of Health has the power and duty to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth, the regulations of the State Department of Health, and all ordinances of the Borough enacted to prevent the introduction and spread of infectious or contagious disease; to abate and remove all nuisances which the board shall deem prejudicial to the public health; to mark infected houses or places; to recommend rules for the construction and maintenance of house-drains, wash-pipes, soil-pipes, and cesspools; and to recommend all such other rules and regulations as shall be deemed necessary for the preservation of the public health which have been approved by Borough Council.

Meets the first Tuesday of each quarter at 7:00 p.m.

Civil Service Commission (members: 3 / term: 6 years)

The Civil Service Commission is responsible for each and every appointment and promotion in the police force within the Borough according to qualification and fitness by examination on a competitive basis. The Civil Service Commission has the power to prescribe, amend, and enforce the rules and regulations approved by Borough Council.

Environmental Advisory Council (EAC)(members: 7 / term: 3 years)

The Environmental Advisory Council shall advise Media Borough Council, and the Borough of Media's Committees, and to educate the citizens of the Borough of Media on matters that affect the quality of the environment in the borough, including those relating to the protection, conservation, management, promotion, and use of natural resources, including air, land and water resources located within the Borough.

Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB)(members: 5 / term: 5 years)

The Historic Architectural Review Board make recommendations to Borough Council regarding the advisability of issuing any certificate of appropriateness required to be issued in the historic districts of the Borough of Media.

Historic Archives Commission (members: 5 / term: 5 years)

The Historic Archives Commission acts as custodian for any archival materials relating to the Borough of Media and the vicinity of the Borough of Media, consisting of but not limited to, photographs, slides, movie film, newspaper articles, electronic recording tapes or materials, historic notes, memorabilia, artifacts, and archeological findings. They maintain a display for public use at the library. The Commission can be contacted at historicarchives@dca.net

Shade Tree Commission (members: 3 / term: 5 years)

The Shade Tree Commission has exclusive custody and control of the shade trees in the Borough. This commission is authorized to plant, remove, maintain, and protect shade trees on the streets of the Borough.

Zoning Hearing Board (members: 5/ term: 3 years)

The Zoning Hearing Board hears and decides appeals where it is alleged that the Borough Code Enforcement Officer has failed to follow prescribed procedure or has misinterpreted or misapplied any provision of the Zoning Code. The Zoning Hearing Board also determines if a special exception and/or variance from the zoning ordinance is appropriate.

Meets the fourth Thursday of the month as needed.
