(CMAQ) Congestion Mitigation Air Quality for Traffic Signal Enhancements
A $700,000 grant was awarded for improvements to the traffic signals on Baltimore Pike and Providence Road. The improvements include a closed loop system that will allow the signals to interact with each other as opposed to each signal operating on its own.

This will assist with the flow of traffic, mitigating traffic congestion. Additional improvements include the possibility of decorative poles and mast arms, hand man indications, LEDs, and preemption. This project is in the design phase, construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2008.

Transportation Improvement Program - Third Street Bridge
A grant in the amount of $1.4 million was approved for the replacement of the Third Street Bridge. The bridge was declared a safety hazard by the Borough Engineer in 1999. The project is in the design phase, and construction is slated for sometime in the year 2009.
