Starting a Business in Media

Overview

We encourage new and existing businesses to start or relocate to Media.  In this section we provide some tips on what to do to get the ball rolling. Links to key forms are also provided.

General Advice

When a new business is replacing a like business, typically only a Certificate of Occupancy application is required.

However, many times the new business is classified under a different use group, which requires all ICC Code and Life Safety Code requirements. It is therefore recommended the new business owner contact the Code Enforcement Department early in the process to determine uses by right and special exception for the property under consideration. The Code Enforcement Officer will review the proposal for the business and recommend the sequence of steps that are required.  Click here for new business procedure flowchart.
